A Recipe From My Mother

When I left South Korea for England, my mother slipped a printed recipe file she had carefully put together into my luggage. It was her way of keeping me fed — and keeping me close.

Living far from home, I turned to those recipes whenever I missed her cooking. Of everything in that file, one dish came back to me most often: her onion dressing. Fresh, bright, and endlessly versatile — it made any meal feel familiar.

Over the years, I began adding my own touch. I introduced maesil — the Korean green plum that has been cherished on Korean tables for generations. Naturally sweet and gently tart, maesil deepened the dressing's flavour and brought a harmony that no other ingredient could.

That is how my mother's recipe became mine too.

For years, I shared this dressing with family and friends. The response was always the same — "This is something special. Where can I buy it?"

After twenty-two years of making this dressing in England, I decided it was time to share it more widely.

JUHEE is named after me — because there is no name I trust more. Every bottle carries my mother's recipe, my years of refining it, and my belief that the finest flavours come from patience, tradition, and ingredients that have stood the test of time.

This is more than a salad dressing. It is a recipe passed from mother to daughter, carried across the world, and now ready for your table.
